But equally I can understand why many PC gamers are cool on the idea. But over the following three years, Bungie has been able to right its listing spaceship thanks to multiple patches and DLC drops, most notably The Taken King expansion, which fixed key systems, shored up the world building, and generally made the grind more enjoyable. Now, with the sequel potentially under six months away, I want to talk about what it needs to ensure success on PC.

The first thing to know about the Destiny universe is The Traveler. It is this this big white sphere that hangs low above Earth. Its origins are unknown. Originally discovered on Mars, it sparked a Golden Age of humanity that allow humans to colonize other planets within the solar system. Ancient enemy of the Traveler. The Traveler battled The Darkness and was forced to retreat to Earth. Here the Traveler sacrificed itself and made its last stand, saving humanity from extinction.
Now the Traveler lies dormant above earth, crippled. The City also known as the Last City is the last bastion for mankind on Earth. Built beneath the Traveler by survivors of the Collapse. Guardians are you, the players. They are an army of specialized soldiers brought back from the dead by the Traveler. They are tasked with defending the City and explore the remnants of the human civilization left behind in the Solar System from the Golden Age. Guardians are able to use the energy of the Traveler as a weapon against the various alien species that seeks to destroy humanity.

That’s almost two months behind the console version, which launched on September 6. They even considered delaying the console version, but eventually settled on a staggered release schedule.
Aug 24, · Matchmaking has existed in “Destiny” since day 1. Why not take your head out of the sand and play some Vanguard Strikes. You can even restrict yourself to low level ones so that you will feel like you are really good because all the enemies will be accomodating and die for you.
Sturm Why we love it: At a base level Sturm is just a great hand cannon. The extended barrel gives it a longer range than similar guns, and the extended mag lets you blast away for longer although is countered by a slower reload. Energy weapon kills also boost its precision damage until you reload. However, the real bonus here is that kills with Sturm will give you extra energy weapon ammo. It’s partnered with the exotic and will specifically reload it and it alone when you get kills with it.
So if you have both equipped, a little judicious juggling will constantly keep both guns topped up. Drang, by the way, is a neat side-arm for the Crucible. Reloading instantly after a kill will you give a brief period of invisibility, and Smooth Grip helps get that gun locked and ready quicker. This Scout Rifle is a boon for anyone looking to boost their speed but remain just as powerful.
You might be familiar with it from the original Destiny, but for those coming into Destiny 2 fresh, this is an Exotic with a focus on agility. Not only does it boost your sprint speed, but it also keeps your radar active while you’re looking down the sights, meaning your prepared for surprises and quick enough to avoid them. Not only does it hold eight rounds and fires rounds per minute – making it reasonably nifty for a hand cannon – its perk Sunburn fires explosive rounds, whilst Sun Blast makes Solar enemies explode, dealing extra damage as they do so.

As long as there’s finely balanced matchmaking, Destiny’s PvP looks like it’ll be great fun, but it’s going to take a while out in the wild before we can say with certainty that it’s just as balanced and perfectly poised as Bungie’s Halo games were.
For Destiny 2, Bungie has taken to expressing the lore more through the game All the grinding—dozens, even hundreds of hours—gone in the blink of an eye. Given, some players prefer the option to start over, and the multiplayer-focused nature of the game makes it difficult to make all people happy, but the general standard I hold for games is this: If you have the infrastructure in place to do this, Bungie, why not give everyone the opportunity?
Deviantart – leaks4you One of the most shocking changes about Destiny 2 is the lack of change, at least in regard to classes. Destiny 2 will not add any new classes , settling on sub-classes as a way to ostensibly expand the mechanics read: The end result is the exact same amount of content as the original. The balance itself could be a concern, but regardless, it harkens back to the first and second concerns on this list that so little net new content is added.
Gamespot advertising One thing that correlates with both balancing and the new subclasses is the changing of supers. There have been various tweaks to the classes, as stated before, but perhaps the most game-changing element of the new additions is how significant the supers for each subclass really affect gameplay. Destiny 2, whether by purposeful design choice or sheer coincidence, will reduce the number of supers that do not fall into the first two categories.
While there will be some kind of system akin to matchmaking, even using the term, matchmaking in the sense of bringing random people together as is the norm for many other games will not be featured. Instead, clan-based searching appears to be the alternative.
Destiny matchmaking slow
Gameplay[ edit ] Destiny gameplay Destiny’s style has been described as a first-person shooter that incorporates role-playing and MMO elements, but Bungie has avoided describing Destiny as a traditional MMO game. For instance, rather than players being able to communicate with all other players in the game or on a particular server — as is the case in many conventional MMO games — Destiny includes on-the-fly matchmaking that allows players to communicate only with other players with whom they are “matched” by the game.
To communicate with other players in the game world, players must use their respective console’s messaging system. A social space on Mercury was added with the House of Wolves expansion, but requires players to go undefeated in the Trials of Osiris Crucible mode in order to access it.
Destiny has been trying to wrestle PVP to the ground since the launch of the title. When the game first released there was outcry about overpowered shotguns, and the months that followed had regular complaints about OP weapons. The game mode has since been the primary cause of almost all weapon nerfs that have taken place. I.
The only thing they need to do still in unranked is take out the option to enter as a group. Then we can say goodbye to premades dominating what should be the more casual queue. You know if they really fix some core issues like this across the game, it might just become a game worth playing again. John Kosto Removing the option to queue as a group will remove a factor that is much more important than the perfect balance. I am pretty good in PvP but definitely not great.
Besides, you can only queue with a group of 4 at most, so your team still has another 4 that are not in your group. Premade groups are not a benefit to the overall community but a bane. I mean why did you think BW actually put the rarest mats for the new augments in PvP only pretty much? To get more people into the PvP queues and the only reason to put non-PvPers in the queues is because the PvP community is apparently not sustainable by itself. I certainly blame them for not supporting the PvP community for a long time.
But then with so few players you often do run into them more often on the same night. I get that you want to be able to queue with a couple of friends and be on the same team.
Destiny 2 updates PvP and introduces new Raid modes
Despite how I felt about it then, it did have a few things going for it such as the shooting mechanics which were really good and some of the concepts that its bare bones narrative grasped at straws to try and explain. The disastrous interview with Luke Smith, the creative director behind Destiny, with Eurogamer initially turned me off of buying the expansion. Then I realized I had a rebate coupon that I could use to knock the price down and an insatiable curiosity to know if it actually could be better.
“Destiny 2” update is officially live, and it adds the first stages of an Exotic Armor rework. Read the full patch notes here.
Updates are inbound for Destiny 2 , with changes being made to its Crucible PvP mode, introduction of Prestige modes for end-game Raid Lairs, and a roadmap for the rest of July’s content releases. Coming changes for Update 1. Crucible Quickplay is increasing its team limits from 4v4 to 6v6, with score limits increasing for Control and Clash game modes to and respectively. In addition, the Supremacy game mode will be removed from the Quickplay list and featured in its own weekly playlist.
There, it will also update to a 6v6 player count and have a win score of points. Competitive PvP is also getting a slight tweak, with Coundown bomb fuses being shortened from 40 to 35 seconds before detonation. Furthermore, winning streaks will no longer be penalised when joining a match that is already underway. If a player wins the match their streak will increase, but if they lose no penalty will be incurred. Similar adjustments are in the works for the competitive Glory ranks as well, while also matchmaking competitive players by their Glory Rank.

By Matt Davidson Destiny 2 ‘s first expansion, Curse of Osiris, has now launched, bringing with it a slew of new additions to the game – including, in one instance, a heavily-overpowered weapon that is wreaking havoc in the PvP game modes. The Prometheus Lens, an exotic trace rifle, is a highly stable weapon with great range – and it comes with a laser that can tear enemies to shreds in just a few seconds, making it by far the game’s most powerful weapon.
Gamers have been vocal about the weapon on the Destiny subreddit , as laser carnage reigns over the current PvP arena. Exit Theatre Mode Responding, Bungie confirmed that the weapon is bugged; although no further details are given, Bungie’s Community Manager DeeJ promises that the issue will be addressed: Prometheus Lens shipped with a bug. Taken enemies are variations of the existing enemies seen in other parts of the game as a whole, but have a darker, undead -like appearance, and have new abilities and attacks. All participants in Court of Oryx battles receive rewards, but the player who initiated the battle will receive higher-valued rewards. The runes correspond to three difficulty levels, ranging from easier fights to “just below Nightfall”.
Heroic Strikes: Available to those which own the Curse of Osiris expansion, this playlist contains all available standard Strikes, both from the base game and from the Curse of Osiris expansion. A Power level of or higher is recommended, and the playlist is supported by matchmaking services.
Some developers tailor games to fit this criteria. Others reach the premier level organically. For the rest of them, esport success seems perpetually out of reach. Refined from the same game developers who experienced tremendous success with Halo, the expectations were high for Destiny as well. Destiny however, has faced difficulty in swinging professional league momentum. The introduction of new raids and strikes are keeping up with even the most elite guardian players.
The PvP, on the other hand, appears to be lacking some depth. Destiny differs from its Bungie counterpart, Halo, in countless ways. Destiny introduces a wealth of RPG elements that allow players to carefully fine-tune characters to their taste. In this sense, the game exhibits some complexity in the form of character builds, rarely finding two characters that are exactly alike.
